Product Details

This course survey a variety of conversations about the major issues of social conflict and social change. The main idea is to give the students/teachers a broader picture of our society and its communities interactions. Using films, videos, readings, and games, this class explores the major sources of inequalities in our society such as race, gender, education, immigration, climate change, and disabilities. These topics will be presented with an introductory theoretical discussion and will be complemented with a movie, video or documentary that illustrates how these dynamics work in different scenarios. The material presented in class will be based on historical situations and, as part of the discussion, the students/teachers will develop different activities and class dynamics they can use in the classroom. These activities will enhance the comprehension of these topics and the historical background that has influenced them. The focus of this class is to create awareness to impact different educational environments in our communities. That way, we can create the conditions for a social change that translate in the wellbeing of our schools and communities. This course is taught in English.
